The ISSUES

Same Problems- Same Solutions- Same Results

We have been complaining about the same problems in education for decades and get the same result. This is the definition of insanity. If we want different results we have to try different ideas. It's time to vote in a candidate that has unique solutions to old problems.

Teachers Salary

We have been complaining about what we pay our teachers for decades. Nothing has changed. I have five ideas for how to increase teacher pay that would be easy solutions within the current structure. Visit my facebook page where I have videos that share these ideas in detail. @ColeKelley4Alpine

Classroom Size

Again a problem we have been trying to solve for decades. The five videos at my facebook page @ColeKelley4Alpine also provide insight into how we can reduce classroom size with out of the box ideas.

Front Line Decision Makers

Parents are the front line decision makers for their child's education. School employees should recognize the parent has trusted us to help foster the education for their child.

Who Does a Board Member Represent?

A member of the board represents the voice of the people.

Rubber Stamp

Board members should not be a rubber stamp for District Administrators. They are the representatives of the people and should express the will of the people to district personnel.

Surveys

Why conduct a survey when you have no intention of listening to the results. A survey found that 90% of parents agreed on an issue and the board completely disregarded the survey. 90% of the parents were ignored.

Front Line Decision Makers

Parents are the front line decision makers for their child's education. School employees should recognize the parent has trusted us to help foster the education for their child.

Parents Are In Charge

Alpine Board Members do not get to decide what is best for your child! Professional educators are partners with parents in educating our children.

CRT

Parents should be involved in the process of what is taught in our schools. CRT is a divisive curriculum that needs to be rooted out of our schools.

Board Meetings

Parents are an important part of board meetings and should never be locked out of board meetings.

Access to Classroom Curriculum

Parents deserve to know what is being taught in the classroom. Finding a way to balance teacher workload with parents access to curriculum will be important in the coming years.

Teachers

Teachers are the heartbeat of education. They need to be treated as professionals.

NEA/UEA/AEA

The teachers union has a monopoly on the voice for teachers. It is time to stop this monopoly and listen to a broad range of ideas and teacher feedback. AEA leadership has exclusively sat at the negotiation table on behalf of teachers. It is time to end this practice.

Professionalism

While many work environments are allowing employees more personal freedom with their schedules and commitments, educators continue to have more dictated to them by district leadership and political mandates. It's time to free educators to be the professionals that they are.

New Ideas

It is time to implement new out of the box schedules and opportunities for teachers to negotiate their own time and income. I have creative ways to allow teachers the opportunity to grow their income and utilize their time efficiently. Opening unique income structures will attract the best teachers to Alpine School District.

Splitting the District

A closed mind to new ideas ensures that new solutions are not found.

Alpine School District Size

Alpine School District has over 86,000 students. The district includes 14 cities from Cedar Fort and Eagle Mountain to Orem. Alpine School District admits that they need to split.

Is Orem Only The Solution?

I believe that the best option would be to have multiple cities combine to create. a split.  Orem, Vineyard, Lindon and Pleasant Grove would be an ideal split. We need leadership that can bring leaders together from both the district and cities.

The Current Board

The incumbent in my race has stated that they review a split every year, but can provide no data points that would trigger a split. We need leadership that can work together with city leaders to find a solution that is best for our students.
